Cragging at Les Petites Dalles – Tuesday 21st July

Some slabby one pitch routes to get us back into trusting our feet and fingers on tiny ripples in the rock. The weather was hot and sunny and hot meant very hot so the Petites Dalles (little slabs) were a good place to be late in the afternoon when the sun moved off them.

Chamonix to Ailefroide – Monday 20th July

Going backwards in time now as I update my blog from our trip to Ailefroide.
We travelled down the autoroute towards Grenoble then up through La Grave and over the Col du Lauteret. It's perhaps not the quickest way to go especially in a motorhome but it is certainly scenic once away from the autoroute.

Ailefroide to Chamonix - Monday 17th August

Back in Chamonix after four weeks of climbing around Ailefroide. The weather couldn't have been better - sunshine, blue skies and hot! We climbed loads of routes so pictures and details to follow.
It's also been hot and sunny in Chamonix though we had a welcome thunderstorm last night which has made the temperatures a bit fresher. We've been doing a bit of walking and Ron has been exploring the boulders around the Col de Montets.
Chamonix is in the middle of preparing for the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc - four very long distance races around Mont Blanc. We just sit and watch!
